Losing weight is about more than eating less and exercising more. If you do not make a commitment to changing your health and your lifestyle, nothing you do in the short term will give you the lifelong success you desire in this area.

Yes, you must get moving and eat properly, but that is only the beginning. A diet will never be the answer. In fact, the word diet does not even translate in many languages. Instead, think about the end result you are looking for and how it will change your life.

Take a look at what your life has been up until this point. The decisions you have made concerning food choices and exercise habits are firmly engrained. It will take about one month for you to change your inner habits and get used to eating differently and making an effort to keep your body moving every day.

Even if you do not like to exercise, as most overweight people feel, once you get used to moving around you will just naturally speed up your body’s metabolism. This makes it much easier to lose weight and keep it off permanently.

As far as eating is concerned, remember that the portions we are used to eating are usually twice as much as the average portion. If you watch slender people you will see that it is highly unlikely that they will load up a plate of food and eat it all at one sitting. Instead, try eating much smaller portions five or six times each day. Once you change your thinking and food and exercise, weight lose will become second nature to you.
