10 Diet Tips For Sustainable Weight Loss

If you have decided that you really must do something to lose some weight then it is important not to do it by depriving yourself of all the things you really like to eat because if you try this your resolve will not last and any weight you do lose will not be permanent. The majority of people on a diet deny themselves too much and the result is that they put back on all the weight they lose and probably more. If you think that denying yourself or going on a starvation diet is the answer. It is not! So, don’t kid yourself!
However, you can’t continue eating all the foods that helped to pile on the pounds in the first place. So here are some tips to help you resist temptation if you get any cravings.
1) Treat yourself to a small bar of chocolate or other favourite treat as a reward every time you have completed 1.5 hours of exercise over a 2 day period. Just eating sensibly is not enough and you must introduce some exercise into your daily routine if you really want to see some results. The only magic formula is your determination.
2) Try cooking some whole oats made with fat free milk and if you have a sweet tooth use an artificial sweetener. Whole Oats are extremely filling and will keep you feeling satisfied for a long time and the sweetness will satisfy your craving for sugar. It will only take a few minutes.
3) Walk as much as possible and do not use the car for short journeys. This really will make a difference not only to your body shape but also to your budget and the environment. Think twice before you go to pick up the car keys!
4) Avoid the fast food outlets at all costs and take a packed lunch to work with you. Include healthy fresh foods such as salad and tuna sandwiches, fruit salad and a few nuts.

5) Are you aware that drinking alcohol most days has probably been one of the major culprits responsible for you being over weight. Most alcoholic drinks are packed with calories and if you are drinking say 2 glasses of wine or beer a night then they add up to a huge number of calories in a week. If you really find it impossible to stop drinking alcohol altogether, then why not try limiting yourself to say a maximum of 1 glass of white wine a day and dilute with fifty percent fresh orange juice. Diluting it will not necessarily make it less fattening but will help to stop you getting tipsy and losing your resolve not to raid the fridge.
6) We all know we should eat more fruit and vegetables but let’s face it; it can be boring but why not prepare a batch of chopped raw vegetables to snack on and mixed fruit salad using oranges, pears, bananas, grapes and any fruit in season to make it as interesting as possible. You could even treat yourself to some fat free ice cream to go with it. Delicious!
7) Find a picture of a slim gorgeous woman and stick it to the front of your fridge. Every time you are temped to eat something you shouldn’t she will be there to remind you why you shouldn’t.
You will love this one because it is now acknowledged by dieticians that you eat several small healthy meals a day and contrary to what you might think, you are more likely to lose weight if you eat frequently, at least every 3 hours. Doing this will boost your metabolism into burning more calories instead of storing them as fat.
9) If you are not too inhibited, join a gym or invite a friend to do some exercises with you. You are more likely to stick at it if you have a like minded friend doing it with you. For example, swimming is a great form of exercise and if you go with a friend you can compete with one another.
10) Remember, you can eat as much as you like provided you work off the excess calories through exercise. If you hate the thought of all that physical work then you have eat less. Simple!
